i wrote this INIT to put covertly on a friend's mac who is particularly annoyed by sniffling noses. there is no CDEV for the control panel—yet. just drop sniff™ in your system folder and reboot. if you don't have much memory you might want to skip this one; it'll eat around 49k or your memory for two sniffs and a sort of clearing of the throat sound. your mac will make a noise from 15 seconds to about 3 minutes apart. if anybody cares i'll write a CDEV to change these parameters and choose sounds from the control panel.
if you're techno-inclined, sniff™ uses 'snd ' resources ID's 1, 2 and 3 in it's resource fork. i'm a student and i need to pay my rent this summer, so please send me $10.00. that's not a lot for a cool little program like this, and if you do pay-up, you get first dibs on any other cool thing's i write. i've tested it on a mac plus under system 6.0.4, an old mac II with system 6.0.7 and a mac IIci with 6.0.4, though it should work with any post system 6.0.0 mac and system 7 as well.

version 0.9.0b1 may not have worked on pre 68020 systems due to moon
phase (read: programmer error).
